PREPOSITION : It's Kinds

PREPOSITION Preposition is a word placed before a Noun or a Pronoun to show in what relation the person or thing denoted by it stands in regard to something else. * Words 'in', 'off'', 'of'', 'that', 'at', 'on', etc are used as Prepositions. * A Preposition may have two or more objects ; as,  The road runs over hill and plain . * A Preposition is usually placed before its object.      The Noun or Pronoun which is used with a preposition is called its 'Object' .  Example : Here is the watch that you asked for. That is the boy I was speaking of. What are you looking at ? What of these chairs did you sit on? * The Prepositions like 'for', 'from', 'in', 'on' are often omitted before nouns of place or time.

ADVERB : It's Kinds

ADVERB Adverb is a word that modifies the meaning of a verb, an adjective, or another Adverb. Example :  Rama runs quickly. In this sentence quickly shows how Rama runs ; that is , quickly modifies the verb run. Govind reads quite clearly . She was dressed all in pink. She was sitting close beside him.

THE VERB : Transitive and Intransitive

 THE VERB  A Verb are the action words in a sentence that describes what subject is doing .  A Verb may tell us :  What a person or thing does ; as,              Hari laughs.              The clock strikes. What is done to a person or thing ; as,              Hari is shocked.              The window is broken. What a person or thing is ; as,              The cat is dead.              Glass is brittle.       Examples :  The girls were singing . I have learnt my lessons. He is running. KINDS : TRANSITIVE & INTRANSITIVE VERBS * Transitive Verbs :  A Transitive Verb is one that makes a complete sense if it exerts its action on an object. Example :  The girls carry water to their village. She loves rainbow. * Intransitive Verbs :  An Intransitive Verb is one that doesn't make a complete sense. Example :  They jumped. The dog ran.

Comparison Of Adjectives

 Comparison Of Adjectives  There are three Degrees of Comparison -  Positive Degree Comparative Degree Superlative Degree   * Positive Degree   The Positive Degree of an Adjective is the Adjective in its simple form . It is used when no comparison is made. Ex : sweet, small, tall, white , etc. The mangoes taste sweet. * Comparative Degree  The Comparative Degree of an Adjective denotes a higher degree of the quality than the positive , and is used when two things are compared .  Ex : sweeter, smaller, taller, whiter, etc . Rama is smaller than me. * Superlative Degree The Superlative Degree of an Adjective denotes the highest degree of the quality and is used when more than two things are compared. Ex : sweetest, smallest, tallest, whitest, etc. This boy is the strongest in the class.

ADJECTIVE An Adjective is a word used with a noun to add something for its meaning. Example :  The lazy boy was punished. He is an  honest  man.  Kinds Of Adjective  * Adjective of Quality  (or Descriptive Adjective)  Descriptive Adjectives show the kind or quality of a person or thing , as ; Kolkata is a large city. The foolish crow tried to sing. Adjectives of Quality answer the question  ' Of what Kind ? ' Example  : Kolkata is a city . Question - Kolkata is a city , Of what kind?   Answer - small or large. ( By the way Kolkata is a large city in India .) So the quality come out to be large . Sentence becomes Kolkata is a large city . (Adjective of Quality) * Adjectives of Quantity  Adjectives of quantity show how much of  a thing is meant , as; I ate some rice. He has little intelligence. Words like some,much,little,enough,all, no,any,half,great,sufficient,whole,etc form Adjective of Quantity. Adjective of Quantity answer the question 'How much ?' Example :

PRONOUN AND IT's KINDS

 PRONOUN    A Pronoun is a word which is used in place of a Noun.    ( Don't know what is Noun, What are you waiting for click here - ' Noun '  .) THE NOUN : GENDER

THE NOUN : GENDER There are 2 types of Gender, either Male or Female.  In terms of Gender ,we call it Masculine Gender or Feminine Gender. 1- Masculine Gender : A Noun that denotes a male is said to be Masculine Gender. Example:  Boy, Lion, Hero, Cock, Sparrow, etc. 2- Feminine Gender :  A Noun that denotes a female is said to be Feminine Gender. Example :  Girl, Lioness, Heroine, Hen, Sparrow, etc.

THE NOUN : KINDS OF NOUNS A Noun is a word used as the name of a person, place, animal,or thing. Proper Noun :  A Proper Noun is  name of some particular person or place. Proper means one's own. Hence a Proper Noun is a person 's or things's own name. Proper Noun  are written with Capital Letters at the beginning. Common Noun : A Common Noun is a name given in common to every person or thing of the same class or kind.  Examples:  Ashoka was a wise King.  Explanation :  The noun Ashoka refers to a particular king, but the noun king might be applied to any other king as well as to Ashoka . Therefore,  Ashoka is a Proper Noun while King is a Common Noun . Sentence A group of words that makes  a complete sense is called a Sentence. Example : Little Jack Horner sat in a corner.                    Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall. Kinds of a Sentence 1- Declarative or Assertive Sentences  A sentence that makes a statement or assertion is called a Declarative or Assertive sentence.  Example : Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall. 2- Interrogative Sentences A sentence that asks a question is called Interrogative Sentence.
