CONJUNCTION

CONJUNCTION A conjunction is a word used to join sentences or words. Examples: God made the country and man made the town. Our hoard is little, but our hearts are great. Two and two make four. Definition = A Conjunction is a word which merely joins together sentences, and sometimes words. Some Conjunctions are used in pairs . 1- Either - or  :   Either take it or leave it. 2-Neither - nor  : It is neither useful nor ornamental. 3-Both-and  : We both love and honour him. 4- Though - yet    : Though he is suffering much pain, yet he didn't complain. 5- Whether- or    : I don't care whether you go or stay. 6-Not only- but also  : Not only he is foolish but also obstinate. Note : Conjunctions are thus used in pairs called Correlative Conjunction or Correlatives. * We use many compound expressions as conjunctions ; these are called Compound Conjunctions.

PREPOSITION : It's Kinds

PREPOSITION Preposition is a word placed before a Noun or a Pronoun to show in what relation the person or thing denoted by it stands in regard to something else. * Words 'in', 'off'', 'of'', 'that', 'at', 'on', etc are used as Prepositions. * A Preposition may have two or more objects ; as,  The road runs over hill and plain . * A Preposition is usually placed before its object.      The Noun or Pronoun which is used with a preposition is called its 'Object' .  Example : Here is the watch that you asked for. That is the boy I was speaking of. What are you looking at ? What of these chairs did you sit on? * The Prepositions like 'for', 'from', 'in', 'on' are often omitted before nouns of place or time.

ADVERB : It's Kinds

ADVERB Adverb is a word that modifies the meaning of a verb, an adjective, or another Adverb. Example :  Rama runs quickly. In this sentence quickly shows how Rama runs ; that is , quickly modifies the verb run. Govind reads quite clearly . She was dressed all in pink. She was sitting close beside him.

THE VERB : Transitive and Intransitive

 THE VERB  A Verb are the action words in a sentence that describes what subject is doing .  A Verb may tell us :  What a person or thing does ; as,              Hari laughs.              The clock strikes. What is done to a person or thing ; as,              Hari is shocked.              The window is broken. What a person or thing is ; as,              The cat is dead.              Glass is brittle.       Examples :  The girls were singing . I have learnt my lessons. He is running. KINDS : TRANSITIVE & INTRANSITIVE VERBS * Transitive Verbs :  A Transitive Verb is one that makes a complete sense if it exerts its action on an object. Example :  The girls carry water to their village. She loves rainbow. * Intransitive Verbs :  An Intransitive Verb is one that doesn't make a complete sense. Example :  They jumped. The dog ran.

Comparison Of Adjectives

 Comparison Of Adjectives  There are three Degrees of Comparison -  Positive Degree Comparative Degree Superlative Degree   * Positive Degree   The Positive Degree of an Adjective is the Adjective in its simple form . It is used when no comparison is made. Ex : sweet, small, tall, white , etc. The mangoes taste sweet. * Comparative Degree  The Comparative Degree of an Adjective denotes a higher degree of the quality than the positive , and is used when two things are compared .  Ex : sweeter, smaller, taller, whiter, etc . Rama is smaller than me. * Superlative Degree The Superlative Degree of an Adjective denotes the highest degree of the quality and is used when more than two things are compared. Ex : sweetest, smallest, tallest, whitest, etc. This boy is the strongest in the class.

ADJECTIVE An Adjective is a word used with a noun to add something for its meaning. Example :  The lazy boy was punished. He is an  honest  man.  Kinds Of Adjective  * Adjective of Quality  (or Descriptive Adjective)  Descriptive Adjectives show the kind or quality of a person or thing , as ; Kolkata is a large city. The foolish crow tried to sing. Adjectives of Quality answer the question  ' Of what Kind ? ' Example  : Kolkata is a city . Question - Kolkata is a city , Of what kind?   Answer - small or large. ( By the way Kolkata is a large city in India .) So the quality come out to be large . Sentence becomes Kolkata is a large city . (Adjective of Quality) * Adjectives of Quantity  Adjectives of quantity show how much of  a thing is meant , as; I ate some rice. He has little intelligence. Words like some,much,little,enough,all, no,any,half,great,sufficient,whole,etc form Adjective of Quantity. Adjective of Quantity answer the question 'How much ?' Example :

PRONOUN AND IT's KINDS

 PRONOUN    A Pronoun is a word which is used in place of a Noun.    ( Don't know what is Noun, What are you waiting for click here - ' Noun '  .) Example : Hari is absent because Hari is ill.  To avoid repetition of the Noun Hari we'll use he in place of Hari , as ; Hari is absent because he is ill.   Types Of Pronoun  Personal Pronoun Possessive Pronoun Demonstrative Pronoun Reflexive Pronoun Relative Pronoun Reciprocal Pronoun
